This weekend is the “big event”! I’m actually pretty excited. The kids are too, even though it’s really only for the youngest. This will be the first real birthday party I’ve hosted. I mean, we’ve celebrated birthdays at the house before, we even had a pretty nice one at home where they had a sleepover. But I’ve never hosted one outside of the house. Luckily, we have a family membership at the Y (which we NEVER use, until now) so we are having a rock climbing wall party. I think it’s going to be pretty nice, and I’ve been wanting to do this for like 2 years now.
At some point I will have to get that whole “goody bag” thing taken care of this week, but I’ve got other, more pressing things. Like we really need for me to go grocery shopping, and since we all enjoy food, I feel that’s an important issue. So I will nail down the little details like that this week, just not today. And I’m sure most of those details will be nailed down in the dollar store (also known as “the happiest place in the world”).
My family tried to have a post-Thanksgiving party, but that kind of fell apart, and most of them will be at this party. So I’m really excited about that. I’m going to have to jump on a table and do an Al Roker style “my people!!!” when they all get there.
They might not cheer.
So we will have a nice weekend, and I have a half day on Friday. I’m going to have a crazy week at work, so that will be nice. And I’m almost done being sick from the oldest sharing her plague with me last week. You know, when they were younger, they’d be puking all over the place and I’d be fine. But now they bring home this professional grade little stuff and it just about kills me. I was sick for half of last week, and just a little “ick” hanging on for this week. I’m sure glad I got that flu shot. I might get horribly sick, but at least the government got a chance to update their microchip (paranoid joke).
So lots to look forward to this week, I’m pretty amped. I won’t be climbing any rock walls (I’m not that nuts), but I will have a really good time hanging out with my people, watching all the kids lose their minds. Good times.
