Wonderwoman!!!!

Hello stepmoms! So it’s been a long week, and I have had the chance to spend some time with “my people” alone. Had the kids to myself yesterday while my hubby was out of town. They are so trained that if he is 5 minutes late, or we are eating dinner early, they all say “wait, is dad on a business trip?”. There was a lot of girl-becoming-a-woman talk, and there were a few minutes where I thought I might lose my mind (youngest comes tromping in with muddy shoes, then throws them on top of everyone elses’, love that) but I guess it served a purpose, it was something they needed. And that is something I want you stepmoms to know about, I was able to give them something they needed. I am a stepmom, I have a stepmom, my mom is a stepmom, and so is my sister and two sister-in-laws. I’ve seen this from every angle. I’m going to tell you this is not easy. It is rediculous and complicated, and I am so sorry that you all have been welcomed to the tightrope act. But I want to say one thing, this is the opportunity for you to give a little person something that no one else can give them. It’s different in every situation, and you will have to gauge it personally, but that family was delivered TO YOU for a reason. You are NEEDED there, I promise you. It may be difficult. You may have a hard time seeing what is needed, or it might be right in your face and seem totally overwhelming. But that task was given to YOU and it wouldn’t have been if you weren’t the person to do it. It might be rough, I’m sure it’s frustrating, it’s tiring, it can be just a wave of “how can I do this” and feeling like you are totally incapable. But I promise, it was given to you because you have the strength to handle it, and you should find some encouragement in that. I love all of you stepmoms, and I know you can do this.

I mean, heck, if I can do this, and I’m a total nutty mess, anyone can!!!
